The four main Balearic Islands Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera are situated in the Mediterranean and are the most attractive natural cruising areas of Spain. The islands are one of the Mediterranean’s prime yachting centers.
Nature has been generous in these places creating many natural harbours, secluded coves and pretty anchorages. There is a lot to see both inland as well as in the ports along the coast in a country of rich culture, where the relaxed Spanish way of life still can be sampled in the many waterfront bars and restaurants. Besides sailing there are many sporting opportunities like: golf, tennis, diving and horse riding.
The islands show feature many beautiful sights like Gothic achitecture, hidden beaches, endless orchards of oranges and olives and hilltop villages.
Mallorca, the largest of the Balearics, is the island of contrasts: the rough West Coast and the more flat East Coast with the small, but pitoresc fishing villages Andraitx, Soller and Pollensa.
The island shows 300 days of sunshine out of 365. The peak season is summer (June, July and August), but also out of season the weather is still pleasant, even in winter the sun sometimes makes an appearance.
The capital, Palma, has many cultural sights, restaurants and a various nightlife to offer.
If you sail from Mallorca to Ibiza you will be accompanied by dolphins. Ibiza has a lot of good marinas and hundreds of beautiful bays as well.
