M/Y Bombala

August 15, 2008

Dear Liz and Jeff,

I must complete the questionnaire but I did want to write to you personally to say what a pleasure it was to use the Dock Wise service between Brisbane and Auckland.

I was constantly updated by all parties; Tieke and Dave Ross were very helpful in accommodating a request to get aboard prior to ballasting to undertake some engineering work in Auckland and how Yacht Express sailed through an 80kt storm without upsetting an aerosol tin (I left standing in the engine room), I’ll never know.

Thanks again to you all and I hope we have the opportunity to use your service again.

Kind regards

Jason Rowledge

Dear Flavia- thank you VERY much for getting the matter of the original quote sorted out for us, AND for being so kind and understanding on the telephone. I'm sure that Dockwise realizes and appreciates what an asset to it's company you are. I will be meeting with Donn Costanzo, the yachts' manager on Sunday to go over the details, and will be sure that he understands that we must have all paperwork to you by Friday. I also will speak with the owner of the boats, letting him know of your good service. I think it bodes well, and feel we can rest easy that the boats will be treated as well as we have been! Although they are tiny by yacht standards of today, both are irreplaceable, especially Dolphin, the 1921 Herreshoff sailing yacht. We'll be speaking soon. Thanks again, Flavia

M/Y Fleming 55 Trawler

July 1, 2008

Dear Laura,

Thank you so very much for your kind note of June 30th regarding the transportation of my Fleming 55' Trawler from St. Thomas to Newport.

Needless to say, we were very pleased with your whole operation, from start to finish. I fully realize, as does my secretary, all the needed paperwork to do an international move. Everybody aboard the vessel was most courteous and competent. Both the loading and unloading of my boat went very smoothly.

I will highly recommend your services to anyone who may be interested in moving their boat as I did.

Most Sincerely,

George McEvoy & Debbie Todte

Gayle,

I hope you are doing well! I wanted to drop off a note to thank you for your professionalism and all the support you assisted us with while delivering Freya for loading on the Yacht Express on June 18, 2008. Also, please pass my thanks to Liz who was equally as essential to the success of our delivery.

Thank you again!

Dear Liz:

Thank you very much for all your help with this shipment. It was very tight for us to close and then have the yacht ready for shipping, but Dockwise and you made the process very reasonable. I look forward to working with Dockwise again in the near future.

M/Y Solena

June 5, 2008

Gentilissima Alessandra,

Hi Clemens,

I wanted to take a moment to tell you about the exceptional service that I recently received from your associate in Genoa, Alessandra Terzi.

Having flown over to meet the arrival of Yacht Express's April sailing to Genoa, my wife/mate Susan and I were distressed to learn that two of our checked baggage items did not arrive with our flight. After a few days of making absolutely no headway in the process of sorting this out with the local airport personnel, in desperation we called Alessandra for help.

Though assisting with this sort of problem is clearly beyond the scope of her responsibilities with DYT, Alessandra was eager to help. It eventually took about two weeks to get our bags delivered to us (now in France), but without Alessandra's numerous phone calls on our behalf to airline reps as far away as Paris during the process, I think we'd still be waiting for our gear to arrive!

I just thought that you should be made aware of the impressive "go the extra mile" attitude that Alessandra demonstrated in helping us to resolve our problem.

Best regards,

Dave

March 25, 2008

Dear Laura,

I wish to compliment Dockwise Yacht Transport on the excellent service we received in the movement of our sports fisherman "Temptation" from Port Everglades, Florida to Le Marin, Martinique. The communication prior to loading was prompt, clear and comprehensive and this continued through to offloading. Nadine Massaly in Martinique was very helpful in assisting in local arrangements.

Just prior to loading in Port Everglades, the propellers on our boat were badly damaged necessitating a change in Martinique. Nadine and the loading master Patrick Collins kindly allowed us aboard the "Super Servant 3", soon after its arrival, to change the propellers before delivery. The ships crew were extremely accommodating and helpful. Unfortunately, our problems did not end there as we found our main batteries unable to start the engines. Patrick arranged for our vessel to be towed to a safe anchorage where we were able to sort out our problems and have an enjoyable voyage to Trinidad & Tobago.

Kindly relay our sincere appreciation to the master and crew of the "Super Servant 3", Nadine and Patrick.

Thanks again for the great service.

Regards
John Skinner

Dear Captain and Crew of Superservant 4,

We would like to extend our gratitude to you for the friendliness and support you have showed us during the course of the voyage from Auckland, NZ to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, U.S.A.

Dealing with both cargo and client on a dialy basis is a challenging situation. You have achieved a delicate balance that makes this possible. You have shown yourselves to be professional and attentive at all times, taking care to accommodate any needs of both cargo and rider.

Volpaia was perfectly cared for with regard to sea fastening and services, and we as riders were equally attended to. With that, a special mention to Vitaly's galley. We will miss his cooking which was consistantly excellent and which we looked forward to everyday.

We wish you the best of luck in the coming voyages and hope to have the opportunity to sail together again.

Bjarni and Leonie

By: Nor'wester

January 4, 2008

Saturday Steve drove Jan and me to the Tsawwassen Ferry to cross over to Nanaimo and offload Nor'wester. The Tsawwassen Ferry is just over the border in BC and we thought that traffic would be light and getting to the ferry would not be an issue......WRONG... As we approached the border crossing we were greeted with a long line of cars. It took nearly and hour to get to the booth where we were asked so many questions I thought the guy surely must be writing a book. I don't think he ever had encountered someone going to Nanaimo to offload a boat that we built in Anacortes and took to Mexico only to put it on a ship and bring it back home. He seemed quite confused but finally looked at us and said, "Ok....have a nice day" then let us through.

Steve drove us at breakneck speed so we wouldn't miss the ferry as the next one was about 3 hours later. He pulled up in front of the terminal and Jan and I sprinted (ok, I limped as I had sprained my ankle the week before.....but that is another story) to the ticket counter. They were calling last call so we were given permission to cut in line and then run (limp) to the ferry. We no sooner got aboard than the ferry left.

We are used to the Washington State Ferries, having lived in Friday Harbor for a number of years, but this was our first experience with the BC Ferry System. Quite frankly, we were impressed. The ferries themselves were in great condition with very comfortable seating. They also had a great cafeteria that served delicious food. (I had a double cheeseburger). We would definitely do that again.

Once we got to Nanaimo, we took a cab to out hotel, the Coast Bastion, which is right near where the Dockwise ship would offload. We met up with Chuck and Margaret of Mairead, the Grand Banks 46 that did the FUBAR with us and decided to do dinner later.

At dinner, we were joined by Mik and Barb of Navigator, a beautiful Krogen 48 and John and Margot of Caretta, a Tartan 41 sailboat who were also there to offload their boats. We had a great time at a great little restaurant called the "Modern Cafe". (highly recommended if you get to Nanaim0)

The following morning dawned clear and icy. Here are some pictures of Super Servant 3 at the dock. We boarded the ship and met with the shipping agent who had all of our documents already processed with Canadian Customs. We then were off We then were off to inspect Nor'wester to see if there was any damage.

No damage observed, just a bit of soot and a lot of salt. We talked to the crew of the ship and they had quite a rough passage, especially off the Northern California, Oregon, and Washington Coast.

Soon it was time to flood the ship so that we could offload. Here are several pictures I took while the ship was flooding. Soon the ship was flooded and one by one we backed out. The crew was very good in helping with lines and they were there to assist if anyone got too close to the sides.

We motored over to the Port of Nanaimo docks and were assigned a space to raft up to an old fishing boat. The owner of the fishing boat was there to help us with lines, but we soon found out that we couldn't get off the boat and that there would be no electrical power or water. We finally figured out that the easiest way for us to get ashore was to put the tender in the water, which we did. Off to the store for some food, then a quiet night aboard before an early departure the next morning.

As we left the harbor, we passed by Super Servant 3 one more time. She was ready to receive the boats being loaded later that morning.

One of the boats that was being loaded was After Eight, an Northern Marine 151 that is headed for Florida and presumably the Miami Boat Show. ( I don't know that for sure, just a guess).

It was so good to receive the boat down here exactly in the same
conditions as I had seen her (and bought her) in Florida.
I was tempted to hire a captain and sail her on her own bottom, but I
am so happy now I have chosen you guys.
I maybe could have saved a couple of thousand but only with perfect
weather conditions, and - by the way - the storm noel (later upgraded
to hurricane noel) came so, imagine how much higher my costs would
have been having the boat sitting in some marinas in turk and caicos
waiting for better sea conditions...
Plus, without putting 100+ hours on the engines.

Thanks again, and give a shout if you come visit the BVI

Ciao

By: Carpe Diem

November 2, 2007

1. We boarded Dockwise on Tuesday morning on the beautiful island of St Thomas to find a very modertn and clean port facility.

2. We found Carpe Diem to be in good condition. There was some soot, but that is to be expected - certainly much cleaner than you would find it after transit on a container ship.

3. Apparently one of the covers had almost blown off, and the crew had put it back in place. That sort of courtesy would never occur on a typical container ship.

4. Again, Dockwise at this end was very professional and efficient. The Dockwise representative, Coleen Coombs, asked us to inspect the yacht for any damage prior to proceessing the discharge papers. John and the crew did a thorough examination and found all to be well.

5. We found that the supports were very well done. They are place in a specific location and the bases are welded to the ship's deck.

6. The pads were placed directly beneath structural bulkheads (see the marks on the hull) to provide maximum support.

7. The welded supports are removed while we are dry. Only the jack stands aft and keel supports remain in place.

8. After handling the paperwork with Coleen, John, Robin, Buddy, Fernando and I are waiting for the ship to be flooded so we can get underway.

10. John and Robin seem pleased with the process so far.

11. The ships gate goes down - water floods the ship - Carpe diem is floating.

12. With the boat floating and other boats are leaving the ship, Robin checks out the swim ladder and handrail.

13. With Dockwise in the background, we go to Crowne Bay Marina - right next door to the port to clean the boat and prepare for the trip to St Martin.

14. Arriving at Crowne Bay Marina, we find a very modern and very clean facility. Carole Dudley and her staff extended every possible hospitality.

15. Carpe Diem at our dockspace. John, Robin, Fernando and Buddy worked really hard cleaning and preparing the boat for Stew's arrival on Wednesday.

Dear Liz,

We have just completed a magnificent four weeks cruising vacation in the waters around Newport including a sail to N-Y Manhattan and browsing in Block and Nantucket islands.

Thanks to Dockwise it was made possible to move our boat from Caribbean to US east Coast with no hassle and on a short time. We already used Dockwise to transport successfully Cool Dream from Europe to Caribbean and will likely use your service again to go in another location.

Thanks again to all at Dockwise for your efficient and excellent services.

Best regards,

Ms. Santana:

Although we do not have any plans to return to Mexico as yet, I wanted to tell you how happy my wife and I were with the service provided by you and Dockwise. It was a remarkably easy process and very reliable. Your emails helped to relieve our anxiety about the process. We were very impressed with the captain, his staff and the crew of Dockwise Express 12. They genuinely seemed concerned with the needs of our sailboat and us. The Ukrainian crew was particularly helpful to us. They gave us confidence that the loading, standing and unloading of the boat would be done properly and be free of damage.

Our Dockwise exprience was as very good. We will again consider Dockwise in our future plans and will tell other boat owners about your service.

Thank you,
Susan Greene and Charles Ball

Liz, sure enjoyed meeting you on Dockwise Explorer Friday morning.

I wanted to let you know that this was a very positive experience. All of the agents and personnel were very professional and helpful throughout the process. The ships crew were polite and informative. It worked out so well that we would likely plan to return to the Caribbean at the end of the summer. Please let me know the expected timing and put us on the list for reservations.

Kind regards,
Andy Lang

Hi, Kenny & Kathy . . . .

Nice to hear from you! We feel somewhat envious of new '44 owners . . . wondering what you guys are doing with the extra 2 feet and all . . .

Anyway, we do get lots of stares and comments, and it is very satisfying to know that we are members of such a small but wise boating fraternity.

To answer your question about Dockwise, it is relatively easy to arrange, and the communication with them by email was very efficient and timely.
Their ships' crews are mostly Ukrainian, (the ones we met were all from Odessa, on the Black sea) and at least one of their officers speaks good english.
We paid approx. 28K for the 3+ week trip through the Canal to Ensenada, with the early booking discount. The boat was very clean when we picked it up,
because they wash every boat the day before the owners pick them up. There was little wear and tear on it, and it was easy to drive-on
and drive-off the ship. The english speaking loadmaster talks you right through the process on your VHF.

Talk to Ana Santana, a very efficient gal at their Ft. Lauderdale offices (Florida phone number is on their website.) She was very helpful. Better yet, go visit them . . .
(you are not that far away in Riviera Beach) . . . they have a nice office in a shopping center in town, and were very accommodating when we visited them personally.

Let us know about your crossing over to the Bahamas. We miss the place already, especially the Jibroom at Marsh Harbor Marina, where our boat
spent its final months on the east coast last winter. If you go there, say hello to the marina owners, Tom and Linda Leffler, and their son Steve, who operate what is without a doubt
the friendliest marina in the Bahamas. Their Wednesday Steak Night and Sunday Rib Nights are the most fun and delicious evenings you can find in the whole country.

If you go to the Med with Dockwise, we want to hear about it. We were there for a week last June on Windstar, and it was a terrific experience. At every stop, we told ourselves
how nice it would be to bring "Starlight" there someday.

We had a great Christmas . . .the boat likes the Pacific almost as much as the Atlantic, and we are on our way to having a very Happy New Year, and hope you have a great 2007, also.

Please keep in touch . . .

Bob and Louise Sasine

Shipping with Dockwise

19 Jun 06 Received quotation predicting loading date between 8 and 21 November 2006 arrival in Fort Lauderdale between 7 and 20 December.

Received quotation predicting loading date between 8 and 21 November 2006 arrival in Fort Lauderdale between 7 and 20 December.

Made booking with Dockwise and process went something like:

20 Jun - Received quotation.

20 Jun - Made verbal commitment.

20 Jun - Dockwise representative in Palma emailed us a Booking Notice where we provided all of the particulars of the yacht. We signed and fax'd it back to them.

21 Jun - Dockwise representative then emailed us an invoice with instructions to send funds electronically to the shipping company's offices in the Netherlands. They require 15% within a few days and full payment 1 month before loading. They also provide a 10% or 20% discount for early payment in full.

27 Jun - We sent the funds electronically.

Received "Preliminary Boarding Notice" predicting arrival of the Dockwise ship EXP in Palma between 12 and 16 November 2006.

Received "Reminder" predicting arrival of the Dockwise ship in Palma between 10 and 21 November 2006; delivery to Port Everglades between 10 and 23 December 2006.

Received "Preliminary Boarding Notice" predicting arrival of the Dockwise ship EXPLORER in Palma between 12 and 15 November 2006.

Called local Dockwise representative in Palma who told us: Ship is due 12 November .

Take furling sails off.

Do not cover the yacht, tie things down and prepare it as if to go to sea "...which is what it will be doing..." he said.

No additional paperwork was required to leave Spain and they would send us paperwork required to enter the US.

Received "Preliminary Boarding Notice" predicting arrival of the Dockwise ship EXPLORER in Palma between 12 and 14 November 2006.

Called Adam, the local representative who told us:

Ship is due 11 November; loading to be on the 11th and it will leave on the 12th.

It is 4 days out of Gibraltar and will stop there for fuel.

Do not make any travel plans yet; Dockwise will not be responsible until a formal Loading Notice is sent.

Received email from VanDeGrift containing forms for:

Customs Information
Arrival information for Port Everglades
Customs Power of Attorney for VanDeGrift to act as our agent .
We then downloaded US Dept of Homeland Security Form CBP 3299 which represents the Declaration to Customs of the contents of the yacht.

Received Loading Notice indicating:

Ship is due 11 November.

Loading to take place 12 November beginning at 0800.

We are to be : "...on stand-by on board your yacht floating
close to our carrier by the loading time."

Coordination is done on VHF Channel 17.

We confirmed by phone with Adam that MV Explorer was due Saturday evening, 11 Nov 06 - it arrived after dark.

Up at 0600, out of marina at 0715, on station by ship at 0740. Weather was fine; light breeze and clear. The process went like this:

We called on VHF 17 and were told we were number 6 in the queue, and would be going between 2 motor launches.

We watched other boats going in; the first two were large motor launches (70-90') which entered in reverse - we were afraid we would have to do the same, but then two yachts entered, motoring forward. We milled around, taking pictures and watching the proceedings until approximately 0930 when we were called (actually the 7th boat to enter).

We motored in, snuggled between the bows of the first two launches. A beautiful Swan, about 90' long, entered behind us and took up the center of the ship.

We passed lines to them, and a launch on our starboard quarter and then had to hold ourselves in place for the next five hours as the rest of the boats were loaded and the ship gradually raised.

It took several hours to raise the ship and place supports under each boat since each boat has its own unique shape and depth. For example the Swan has a 15' draft with a bulb keel whereas we have a 5' 6" draft and long keel.

By 1700 we were high and dry, and the hold had drained so that we could lock up Long Passages, climb down a ladder and leave her to be transported in safety across the Atlantic.

We returned the next day to see how the crew had welded supports on the deck and had braced her for the trip.

The ship departed on schedule at 1700 on 12 November; due in Port Everglades, Florida on Pearl harbor day.

So far, all actions by Dockwise have been very professional, on schedule and satisfactory in all ways.

At the loading sign-in, we were given notice that the anticipated arrival date for the MV Explorer in Port Everglades was 7 December 2006.

Received "Preliminary Unloading Notice" predicting arrival of the Dockwise ship EXPLORER in Port Everglades between 8 and 11 December 2006.

Received "Unloading Notice" predicting arrival of MV Explorer on 9 December and unloading at 0730 on 10 December 2006.

Received telephone call predicting that MV Explorer would dock at Port Everglades on 9 December and that we would have an opportunity to inspect our vessel after 1700 hours, and should be on board at 0730 on 10 December to offload.

Received telephone call telling us that MV Explorer would not dock until late in the evening and that there would be no opportunity to inspect our sailboat; we should still report for offloading at 0730 on 10 December. MV Explorer would be tied up at Pier 5.

At 0730 we showed up Pier 5 and went aboard. Water was starting to flood the hold so we were unable to walk around to get a close inspection of the hull, but Long Passages seemed to be in good shape. The crew set up a ladder and allowed us to climb aboard and get things set up below - all appeared to be in good shape except a little soot on the deck.

Some notes:

When they offloaded 7 of the 14 boats in Martinique, Long Passages had been floated and moved to a new location along the bulkhead. All appeared to be in good order.

Winds in the port were blowing 15-20 and when they lowered the rear door, the swell started to buffet us around and tug on our docklines - at times with such force that we were afraid there would be damage.

We signed for our yacht, noting that we had not had an opportunity to inspect her and received our boat documents back.

Customs - US Government officials did not show up for about an hour. When an official arrived it turned out to be one for the previous ship. We were finally released to go at about 0930.

We offloaded shortly after 0930, reversing into 10-15 knots of wind and all went well.

On 12 December we received a telephone call notifying us that our Customs release had been signed by the US Government and would be mailed to us.

Hello Liz:

Thank you so very much for your professional and courteous assistance in the matter of KRISTINA 8.

As you may have surmised during our e-mail conversations last week, there was concern as to the degree of mechanical malfunction, as well as transporting the K-8 safely to it's final destination.

My husband, Captain Tim and I are extremely glad we recommended DOCKWISE as transport company.

You have been reliable and have gone above and beyond normal protocol. A God-send to be sure.

As I have been told, Bob Lichter has in fact received all documentation and has completed and returned all necessary documents to you as well as personally speaking with you via telephone.

If you should have difficulty communicating with them at any time, please feel free to phone me at (386) 717-8082, or (386) 822-7299.

With gratitude and smiles,

Boat is in St. Martin already, was sent to St. Thomas on DYT. You know what, it was worth it!

In the past we've sailed down, and we've been lucky I guess. This time the wind was on the nose, and even DYT was delayed for 24 hours…so if we do this again, I can't imagine not doing it this way. It took 20 hours to deliver the boat 105 miles to St. Martin from St. Thomas, which is a good indicator of how tough it can be.

My crew took a bunch of pictures. They show that the professionalism and thought process was very clear from the start.

The woman in Ft. Lauderdale who helped us, Laura Lamb, hand-led us through every step. That kind of service in this world is rare to find.

STARR IS COMING HOME

January 2005

Today is 26 November 2004 and we are sitting on Starr in Club de Mar in Palma de Mallorca. We were not able to go home to Seattle for Thanksgiving with our sons, who were having Thanksgiving at our house and called us several times yesterday to ask for advise as to how long to cook the turkey, how dad makes the gravy and where is the dry firewood. It almost felt as if we were home. In a few hours we load Starr onto Dockwise Yacht Transport and she will arrive in Port Everglades, Florida on 12 December. We fly to home on Sunday.

We had a very positive experience with your company, the people that we dealt with prior to the shipping, during the shipping and upon receipt of our vessel were polite and very professional. Our vessel arrived with no damage, and we are thanking you for this.

Again, thank you for your great service and we have recommended your company to several other yachties who are looking at a way to get back to North America other than sailing back.

This quick letter to thank you very much for transporting my yacht Fountain from Fort Lauderdale to Toulon in such an easy way.

I have used cargo shipping in the past for other boats, and it has always been quite complicated. Using DYT is an extremely enjoyable experience. The people are nice and unloading the boat is extremely well organized and easy.

Great experience!

Thanks to all the team for being so easy to deal with.

Best regards,

Just wanted to let you know that I was at the off loading of the M/Y Big City in Savona, Italy and was very impressed with the service provided by Dockwise Yacht Transport. Jacques Adroguer and Captain Cors Tromp were of great assistance

I look forward to using your services again.
